EXPLORING DA LAT: FOOD, VIBES & ADVENTURES

FOODS & DINING

LIGHT MEAL

Tàu Cao Noodle Shop ★★

A long-standing, hidden gem Chinese eatery loved by locals. The restaurant specializes in wonton noodles with a clear, naturally sweet, and refreshing broth. The highlight is the crispy, savory pork lard toppings that add a perfect rich crunch. It's highly affordable, ranging from 40,000 to 60,000 VND per portion

Map/Add: 217 Phan Đình Phùng

Vietnamese Macaroni Soup - Nui Húp Húp ★★★⯨☆

The restaurant features a charming retro decor that gives off a cozy, familiar vibe. The broth of the macaroni soup (Nui) has a nostalgic, rich, and well-seasoned flavor that reminds me of childhood. A comforting bowl comes loaded with straw mushrooms, minced pork, tender pork meatballs, pork ribs, quail eggs, and a sprinkle of scallions and cilantro. The only downside is that they don't serve any fresh vegetables or herbs on the side.

Prices are slightly high at 35k–65k VND per bowl

Thảo Shop Roasted Pork Fermented Anchovy Noodles ★★

I’ve tried almost all the dishes here, including fermented anchovy noodle salad, bánh hỏi, and roasted pork rice with pickled mustard greens — everything was delicious. The flavors are rich and satisfying, the noodles are fresh, and the roasted pork is perfectly crispy. The boiled pork and grilled beef in betel leaves were also really tasty, with generous portion sizes. The shop has a cute and cozy decor with comfortable seating. Personally, I often order via Grab and enjoy it at home — my favorite is the Super Special Bún Mắm Nêm for 69k.

Price: Budget-friendly.

Cô Hạ Snakehead Fish Thick Noodle Soup ★★★⯨☆

A local spot specializing in bánh canh with steamed snakehead fish fillet (no fried fish). You can choose between two types of noodles: tapioca noodles (clear and chewy) or rice noodles (milky white with a softer chew). The broth is light, naturally sweet, and has no fishy smell. The downside is that the shop is tucked away in a small alley, with narrow seating along the lane, so it can feel a bit cramped and uncomfortable.

Affordable price range: around 45,000–60,000 VND per bowl.

Google Map/Add: 17/30 Bà Triệu

AN Snakehead Fish Thick Noodle Soup ★★

This shop only serves steamed boneless snakehead fish bánh canh (no fried fish). The broth is clear, naturally sweet, light, and not greasy or fishy. The rice noodles absorb the flavorful broth well, creating a comforting and well-balanced taste. The shop also has a simple yet charming rustic decor.

Affordable price range: around 30,000–60,000 VND per bowl.

Google Map/Add: 23/2 Trần Phú

Chú La Snakehead Fish Thick Noodle Soup

A spot specializing in snakehead fish bánh canh, offering both fried and steamed fish fillets. The rice noodles pair well with the light, naturally sweet broth that doesn’t taste fishy. However, lately the fried fish has become a bit dry, and the broth is thicker with turmeric, losing some of the fragrant and clean flavor it had when the shop first opened. The location is great, right in the city center, and the seating is spacious and comfortable. Personally, I prefer the Hai Bà Trưng branch over the Bùi Thị Xuân one.

Affordable price range: around 40,000–80,000 VND per bowl.

Google Map/Add: 148 Bùi Thị Xuân or 94 Hai Bà Trưng

Da Lat Artichoke Pho - – ATISPHO

The signature here is pho made with artichoke, giving both the broth and rice noodles a light pink color. However, the food quality no longer feels as good as it was when the shop first opened. The decor is soft and cozy, the seating is comfortable, and the restaurant is located near Da Lat Railway Station.

Price: Quite expensive.

Google Map/Add: Khu Quy Hoạch/Lô H19-20 Đ. Phạm Hồng Thái

79 RI Meatball Bánh Mì ★★★⯨

The meatballs are mixed with a bit of fat, giving them a light richness and a pleasantly chewy texture. The broth is naturally sweet and served piping hot, and the bánh mì is delicious as well. The shop is always crowded. The downside is that the space is quite small, cramped, and has limited seating.

Affordable price range: around 15,000–35,000 VND per serving.

Google Map/Add: 2 Thông Thiên Học (Đối diện cây xăng Tỉnh Đội)

Nguyễn Gia Chicken Pho & Glass Noodles ★★

They serve both chicken pho and chicken glass noodles. The chicken has a nice chewy texture and tastes great, and the dish also comes with soft runny young eggs. The dry mixed noodles or pho are definitely worth trying — the flavor is really satisfying. The seating area is spacious and comfortable as well.

Reasonable price range: around 40,000–70,000 VND per bowl.

Huỳnh Văn Porridge Shop – Branch 2  ★★★⯨

A really good porridge spot with evenly cooked rice grains that are soft and perfectly creamy without being too thick. The flavor is naturally sweet and comforting, with plenty of topping options such as quail eggs, oysters, shrimp, abalone, and more. They also serve tasty side dishes and snacks like grilled fermented pork rolls, blood cockles, and spotted babylon snails with garlic butter sauce or salt chili seasoning. The menu isn’t huge, but every dish is well prepared and flavorful. The seating is comfortable, and the staff are polite and friendly. (I’ve only tried Branch 2, so I can’t comment on Branch 1 yet.)

Affordable prices: around 29,000–200,000 VND per dish.

Google Map/Add: 92 KQH, Nguyễn Công Trứ/KQH Phan Đình Phùng

Cô Lan Crab Noodle Soup

A long-standing bún riêu spot. The broth here isn’t overly sour like many other places; instead, it has a light natural tanginess, possibly from ripe tamarind or pineapple, balanced with a rich sweetness from pork bones and freshwater crab (personally, I find it slightly sweet). The crab patties are made from finely ground freshwater crab and fried until golden crispy, giving them a rich and fragrant flavor. It’s definitely a dish worth trying when visiting Da Lat. The location is right in the city center, and the shop opens from after 2 PM until sold out.

Affordable price range: around 35,000–50,000 VND per bowl.

Google Map/Add: 29 Nguyễn Văn Trỗi

Chàaa Curry ★★★★★

MUST TRY. They serve two types of curry: chicken and beef. The flavor is a Thai–Vietnamese fusion style, slightly sweet with a light creamy richness. The meat is tender while still keeping a nice bite, and it pairs really well with bread. Even the dipping salt is surprisingly tasty. The shop opens from after 4 PM until sold out (usually around 8 PM). Seating is limited, so it’s best to come early to avoid waiting.

Very reasonable budget-friendly prices: around 35,000–50,000 VND per serving, including bread.

Add/Google Map: 32 Đường Ánh Sáng

Xiii Noodle Shop ★★★⯨☆

A shop specializing in beef noodles that honestly reminds me a bit of Japanese ramen. It used to be the famous Phú Gia noodle shop in Da Lat. The noodle soup is served piping hot with a light natural sweetness and a rich herbal flavor that’s especially comforting when you’re feeling under the weather. The fresh noodles are chewy and satisfying. You should also try their cheese bread — it’s served hot with stretchy cheese and a balanced mix of salty, sweet, creamy, and buttery flavors. The space can feel a little warm and enclosed, but according to the staff, the restaurant is intentionally designed with minimal airflow because the herbal noodle soup is believed to help warm the body and support health benefits. It’s recommended to call 0708 677 713 and reserve a table before visiting.

Price: On the higher side — around 35,000 VND for the bread and from 100,000 VND per bowl of noodles.

Google Map/Add: 23/13A Đ. Trần Phú

Như Ý 3 Fried Chicken Rice ★★

A spot specializing in chicken rice with both boiled and fried chicken options. You should definitely try the fried chicken with fish sauce — it’s really delicious. The chicken skin is crispy, while the meat stays juicy, tender, and naturally sweet, coated lightly in a fragrant fish sauce glaze. The signature red fried rice is dry and flavorful, and it pairs perfectly with the sweet-and-sour pickled mustard greens.

Reasonably priced.

Thien Trang 2 Hue Beef Noodle Soup ★★★⯨☆

A long-standing bún bò Huế shop. The broth is rich and flavorful with a distinctive lemongrass aroma, paired with tender beef, crab cake, pork knuckle, and chewy rice noodles. The atmosphere feels familiar and welcoming, with fast service, making it a great choice for breakfast. (Personally, I noticed the beef slices are still slightly pink and look appetizing, but they are not as juicy as they used to be.)

Slightly higher price compared to the general average.

STREET FOOD

Kimi Salted Egg Sponge Cake

A very famous sponge cake shop and definitely worth trying. The cakes are lightly sweet with a soft and fluffy texture, and there are many different flavors to choose from. Personally, I don’t find it especially unique (I still prefer the ones in Vung Tau), but the matcha fresh milk here is really good.

Reasonably priced: around 15,000–30,000 VND per cake.

Google Map/Add: 21 Nguyễn Văn Trỗi

Cô Vân Thick Noodle Soup with Fish Cakes ★★

MUST TRY. Co Van’s late-night sidewalk Banh Canh (thick noodle soup) is located right near the Hoa Binh area, on the storefront of Ba Thang Hai Street. She starts selling from 9:00 PM daily until everything runs out. The broth is rich, flavorful, and has absolutely no fishy odor. The clear tapioca noodles are chewy and absorb the broth beautifully, while the fish cakes are savory and aromatic—making the whole bowl delicious. My meal, which included a glass of hot soy milk and a full bowl of thick noodle soup with pig tail and fish cakes, came out to a total of only 65,000 VND.

Budget-friendly price: 35k–45k VND/bowl.

Google Map/Add: Chợ Đà Lạt, đường Nguyễn Thị Minh Khai

Grilled Beef Jerky at Hòa Bình Market ★★

This grilled beef jerky only became popular after the 2026 Lunar New Year, thanks to a young entrepreneur who brought the idea to Da Lat. The beef jerky is actually marinated by his mother and sent from Tây Ninh, so this dish doesn’t originally come from Da Lat. Personally, I find the marinade a bit on the sweeter side, but when eaten hot right after being grilled over charcoal, the beef stays juicy and tender, with the fat melting beautifully. Combined with scallion oil, peanuts, Vietnamese coriander, and pickled vegetables, the overall flavor pairs incredibly well with the cool, chilly weather of Da Lat.

Affordable price: around 29,000 VND per serving.

RESTAURANT - HOME-STYLE EATERIES

Thiec 168 Family Rice Restaurant ★★★⯨☆

A local, budget-friendly restaurant suitable for family meals or groups of friends having drinks. The dishes are well-prepared and not overly sweet or greasy like many common eateries in Da Lat. Recommended dishes include clay-pot catfish and sour shrimp soup. The restaurant has spacious seating. Downsides: food is served quite slowly, and the service can be a bit unfriendly.

Price: Budget-friendly.

Google Map/Add: 168 Phan Đình Phùng

Hoa Thông Brewing (Craft beer – Micro Brewery – xưởng bia rượu thủ công) ★★

Nhiều loại craft beer và rượu trái cây. Món ăn chế biến ngon, lai rai cực hợp, decor quán đơn giản đúng chất craft beer, thoáng, dù lúc mình đi tiệm đông khách dã man nhưng set bàn ngồi vẫn rất thoải mái. Thời tiết se lạnh ở Đà Lạt, nhân nhi ở đây là ổn áp lắm nha. Vị trí ngay trung tâm.

Giá khá cao (khẩu phần mỗi món có chút xíu thui).

Google Map/Add: 45 Đinh Tiên Hoàng, Xuân Hương

Tam Nguyen Ayun Grilled Chicken with Bamboo Rice ★★★⯨☆

For the food itself, I would rate it 5/5. However, overall considering location, price, and service, I’d give it 3.5/5. I’ve eaten here four times already, and if you ask whether I would come back, the answer is YES.

After eating at many places in Da Lat, I still really miss and enjoy this place. Even though many friends who came with me all said the same thing: “We will never come back because the elderly lady who sells the chicken talks too much. The place is too far and hard to find.” This is not a place for impatient or busy people. You need to book one day in advance and transfer half of the payment beforehand. If you arrive later than your scheduled time, they will refuse service and you will also lose your deposit.

Fixed combo includes: Grilled Chicken + Bamboo Rice + Stir-fried Gourd with Giblets + Forest Leaf-Grilled Meat + Chicken Porridge + Mixed Salad. It also comes with 2 types of complimentary alcohol to enjoy with the meal: herbal medicinal wine for men, and mulberry wine for women.

Price is fairly reasonable: around 250,000 VND per person.

Google Map/Add: Ankroet, Lang Biang – Đà Lạt

Tuk Tuk Chicken Shop ★★

The menu is quite diverse. The food is average in taste overall, but the signature dish is grilled chicken with bamboo rice, which is nicely presented and visually appealing. The restaurant has beautiful decor and a great view, with comfortable seating. It’s also a good spot for taking photos with a strong Da Lat vibe.

Expensive.

Lavender BBQ Grill Restaurant ★★★★

MUST TRY. A very cute barbecue restaurant. The dishes are marinated quite strongly (more flavorful compared to Túi Mơ To, which leans toward a more natural taste). Portions are decent, and the staff are polite and professional. There is no outdoor view, but the interior is warm, cozy, clean, and very much in the Da Lat style. Seating is comfortable. It’s recommended to book a table in advance at 0911 588 138. 0911 588 138

The price is quite reasonable compared to other similarly styled barbecue restaurants with nice decor and service.

Google Map/Add: 17/6 hẻm 17 Nguyễn Trãi

Túi Mơ To BBQ ★★★⯨☆

There are two options: one is a full-service restaurant for dining, and the other is mainly for drinks. I tried the restaurant side. The grilled dishes are fresh, and the seasoning is quite light, so you can clearly taste the natural flavor of each type of meat. It’s still worth trying because the view overlooking the valley of lights is very beautiful, and the grilled dishes are also good in quality.

The price is quite expensive compared to Lavender bbq.

Hanoi Snail Dishes ★★

A restaurant specializing in a wide variety of snail dishes prepared with many different sauces, perfect for casual drinking and snacking. The dipping sauces here are especially addictive. Overall quality is good, with well-balanced flavors. Recommended dishes include stuffed snails, oyster porridge, and lemongrass-steamed clams. (This place is located about 70m from Halony.)

Price: Budget-friendly.

Google Map/Add: 83A Nguyễn Văn Trỗi

Bò Tơ Ông Minh ★★

A local beef specialty restaurant. The grilled beef marrow is quite unique and flavorful. For larger groups, the steamed beef cheek is a great choice and tastes very good. The decor is simple and minimal, nothing fancy. Overall, this place feels more satisfying than Bò Tơ Dã Chiến.

Reasonable price.

Google Map/Add: 49 Lê Hồng Phong

Da Chien Veal – Hung Bo ★★★⯨☆

A very famous hotpot and grilled beef restaurant in Da Lat, though the menu is quite limited. However, the ingredients are always fresh daily, and the flavors are generally well-prepared and decent. The place is almost always crowded — by around 7 PM, many of the best cuts (like beef tendon/chewy cuts) are often sold out. Since it is quite far from the city center, I personally prefer Bò Tơ Ông Minh more.

Affordable price starting from around 220,000 VND per portion.

Google Map/Add: 116 Hùng Vương

Ốc Bích Lemongrass Stuffed Snails & Oxtail Hotpot ★★★⯨☆

One of the oldest restaurants specializing in hotpot and BBQ. You should definitely try the 'Ốc nhồi thịt' (steamed snails stuffed with minced pork).

Price: Quite expensive.

Add/Google Map: 224 Đường Hai Bà Trưng

Tao Ngo Restaurant – Chicken Hotpot with Basil Leaves ★★

MUST TRY. A reputable, long-standing chicken hotpot chain. The broth is naturally sweet and clear, loaded with bamboo shoots and mushrooms, perfectly combined with aromatic lemon basil leaves for a burst of flavor that works wonders for relieving colds. The chicken is firm, chewy, and naturally sweet.

Affordable pricing – Hotpot sets from just 200k VND.

Google Map/Add: số 10Bis 3/4

Gio Chu Hung Restaurant – Sturgeon Specialties ★★

Specializes in sturgeon with a limited menu. Both the grilled sturgeon and sturgeon hotpot are fresh and delicious (the hotpot broth tastes quite similar to Vietnamese sour soup/canh chua). It’s pretty famous and a popular spot for tourists. Downside: far from the city center, pricier compared to Tuyen 2 restaurant, and the staff aren't very hospitable.

Google Map/Add: Hẻm 30 Đường Triệu Việt Vương

Chivo Sturgeon Restaurant ★★

Specializes in sturgeon and salmon with a diverse menu. The sturgeon hotpot, grilled sturgeon, and salads are all fresh, clean, beautifully prepared, and feature a light, refreshing flavor profile. The staff are polite and professional. This venue is highly favored by Korean tourists and specializes in catering to high-end tour groups, making it an ideal choice for hosting guests.

The prices are pretty steep.

Google Map/Add: 20 Trần Bình Trọng

Tuyen 2 Sturgeon Hotpot Restaurant ★★

Specializes in sturgeon. Both the sturgeon hotpot and grilled sturgeon are fresh and perfectly seasoned. It is located right in the city center with comfortable seating.

Reasonably priced (cheaper than Gio restaurant)

Google Map/Add: Khu quy hoạch/Lô 75 Nguyễn Công Trứ

SAY "XUA" Gastropub ★★★⯨☆

A civilized local pub that stays open late. Located right in the city center, it offers a wide variety of drinking snacks, though the food quality is just average. The staff are polite, and the service is fast. The decor is nice, creating a perfect atmosphere for chilling with a few beers.

Reasonably priced.

Google Map/Add: 68 Phan Đình Phùng

Anh Duc Seafood Restaurant ★★

A premium seafood restaurant offering a diverse menu of fresh, high-quality, and beautifully prepared dishes. It is a top choice among locals for hosting guests and business partners.

The prices are highly reasonable for the quality.

Google Map/Add: 42F, Đ. Trần Phú/hẻm Đ. Thiên Thành

Ut Nhu Snail & Seafood Restaurant ★★★⯨☆

A go-to seafood spot for night owls, staying open very late (until around 3 AM) compared to most places in Da Lat. They offer a wide variety of fresh snails and seafood, including clams, oysters, shrimp, crabs, and flower crabs, all prepared in diverse and rich, flavorful styles. The staff are polite, and the service is fast.

Price: Budget-friendly.

Pizza Củi ★★★⯨☆

MUST TRY. The pizzas here are handcrafted from natural sourdough and baked in a traditional wood-fired oven. I ordered a half-and-half Pizza (Salmon & Beef)—the crust had the perfect medium thickness, fluffy texture, and well-balanced toppings. The crab pasta was incredibly rich and fragrant, while the salad was fresh and refreshing. All three dishes were absolutely DELICIOUS! Oh, a special shoutout to their homemade chili sauce—it’s super tasty (honestly, I prefer it over Pizza 4P's!). The restaurant's decor is cozy and cute, giving off that signature, charming Da Lat vibe.

Reasonable price

Chef’s Dalat ★★

One of my favorite long-standing French restaurants. The food is beautifully presented and delicious, while the ambiance is simple, gentle, and very 'Da Lat'. I ordered the Duck Confit—the meat was melt-in-your-mouth tender and wonderfully rich. The bread with cheese starter was also quite good. Their coffee is fragrant and tasty too! (By the way, right next door is Cafe Duong—a fantastic drink spot with gorgeous decor. You should definitely check it out too!)

Reasonably priced.

Google Map/Add: 156 Đường Phạm Ngọc Thạch, Cam Ly

Trang’s Cookery Restaurant ★★★⯨☆

A famous Western restaurant in Da Lat that attracts a lot of Western tourists. Located right in the city center, the place features a gentle and cozy decor, and the dishes are beautifully presented. However, for me, the flavors were just decent. I tried the beefsteak here—I ordered it medium-rare, but it was overcooked and came out almost well-done, though the accompanying black pepper sauce was quite good. On the bright side, the beef burger was delicious, and both the coffee and ice cream were great.

A bit pricey.

Google map/Add: 211 Phan Đình Phùng, Xuân Hương

STEAKVIET ★★★⯨☆

The steaks here are delicious and offer great variety, with options ranging from American, Australian, and Vietnamese to Japanese (Fuji) beef. The preparation is solid, using minimal seasoning so that guests can truly appreciate the freshness of the meat. I ordered my steak medium-rare, but the kitchen served it medium. However, it was still enjoyable and the meat hadn't reached the point of being dry.

Reasonable price.

Google Map/Add: 73 Nguyễn Văn Trỗi, Phường 2

Nhà hàng Thái YAM – Chiangmai in Dalat ★★

A beautiful Thai restaurant with very stylish decor. YAM pays great attention to detail in the presentation of both their food and drinks. I ordered 3 dishes to try out: Pad Thai, stir-fried beef with asparagus, and beef curry. While the presentation was lovely, the taste and culinary execution were just average.

A bit pricey, but acceptable because the beautiful space and decor justify the price.

Google Map/Add: 286 Đường Hai Bà Trưng, Cam Ly

DRINKS & CAFÉ

Quán Đương ★★

MUST TRY. The shop is small but charming, featuring a nostalgic and nature-centric design. It’s a very famous spot for photoshoots; every single corner can yield a signature 'Da Lat vibe' picture. Although the drink menu is quite limited, every option is well-crafted. I tried the Berry Juice (the house special - MUST TRY!), Apricot Juice, Mulberry Juice, and Elderflower Pineapple Juice. They also serve seasonal fresh fruit ice cream—meaning whatever fruit is in season, they’ll make ice cream out of it. On my first visit, I had the Peach ice cream, and the second time was Coconut. Both were amazing! A quick tip: if you’ve already ordered drinks and just want to taste the ice cream, just order one portion to share among 2–3 people since the scoops are huge and sharing makes it the perfect treat. The jam and beef jerky options, however, were just average.

Drinks cost 45k–65k VND. The price is slightly high due to its Instagrammable decor, but completely justified.

Google Map/Add: 152 Đường Phạm Ngọc Thạch, Cam Ly

Cafe Tùng ★★

MUST TRY. One of the pioneering coffee shops in Da Lat, established in 1956, Cafe Tung has beautifully preserved its rustic and nostalgic charm through the passage of time. This coffee shop is an indispensable part of the collective memories of both Da Lat locals and travelers alike. To learn more about the fascinating story behind Cafe Tung, check out the link below: Kenh14

Price: Budget-friendly.

Google Map/Add: 6 Khu Hoà Bình, Xuân Hương

The Choco ★★★★☆

MUST TRY. A fantastic local chocolate brand! Their hot chocolate is incredibly fragrant and delicious. The Baileys Chocolate has a rich flavor which is nice, though a bit too sweet for my taste. A major highlight here is that you can enjoy free tastings of various delicious fresh chocolates (Nama chocolate). While it’s just a notch below Japan's famous Royce' (Mama) Chocolate, it is way more affordable and comes in many unique flavors—making it the perfect souvenir to bring home! The Choco has now expanded into a chain with several prime locations across Da Lat. I usually grab my drinks at the Da Lat Railway Station branch or the one on Truong Cong Dinh Street.

Reasonably priced

Google Map/Add: 19 Trương Công Định, Phường Xuân Hương

Kem Bơ ★★★★☆

MUST TRY. "Visiting Da Lat without trying Avocado Ice Cream would be a huge miss! Almost everyone knows that Thanh Thao, Nari, and Phung are the pioneering brands that put Da Lat’s avocado ice cream on the map, while Cham is a newer addition. This treat is a heavenly combination of rich, fragrant fresh avocado flesh—blended into a smooth, creamy texture—served with a scoop of ice cream, and topped with crunchy dried coconut and soft, fresh shredded coconut strips. The avocado ice cream at these shops tastes almost identical, so you'll have a great experience whichever one you choose. Besides avocado ice cream, they also serve a wide variety of sweet treats like sweet soups (chè), flan cakes, jelly, and fresh fruit bowls.

Stop and Go Boutique Hotel – Coffee ★★★★☆

Nestled on the only remaining pine hill in the heart of Da Lat, the cafe exudes a rustic charm and authentic romance. The place feels like a miniature art space—serving as both a nostalgic gallery and a cozy venue for intimate Live Acoustic music nights, offering a rare, serene escape for the soul.

Google Map/Add: 88 Lý Tự Trọng, Phường 2

Cafe 10 – Coffee & Food ★★★★☆

The cafe features a modern and airy space that blends seamlessly with nature, while beautifully preserving the rustic charm of Da Lat. The drinks are delicious, and the coffee is rich, aromatic, and of premium quality.
